Deacon Body

Key Verse: Acts 6:2-4

“So the twelve summoned the congregation of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable for us to neglect eh word of God in order to serve tables. Therefore, brothers, select from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Spirit and wisdom, whom we may put in charge of this task. But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

Ministry Outcome: According to the Bible, a deacon is to be a man saved by the grace of God and of good reputation, who is chosen by the church body to serve and assist the pastor in the work of the ministry. Responsibilities include but are not limited to serving tables, assisting with the Lord’s Supper, hospital and funeral visits, follow-ups with visitors and guests, locking and opening the church building, turning all lights and air/heat units off at the end of service.
